Do You Feel Stuck?

Do You Feel StuckDo you ever feel like you’re spinning your wheels and not going anywhere in your personal life? Do you feel like you’re doing “everything right” and still can’t lose weight? Do you work your buns off at your business and don’t seem to make any progress?

It seems obvious to say that you’re stuck, but many times you don’t see that until it’s pointed out. Normally when we get frustrated at the lack of progress we double down and work harder. For most of us this means doing more of the same thing, with an increased sense of urgency. We believe that we have to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps or just suck it up.

The actual problem is that what you’re doing isn’t working. It isn’t that you aren’t smart, diligent or industrious. The fact is that you’re probably doing the best that you can with the information you have. You must admit to yourself that you have done the best that you could and haven’t gotten the results that you desired. You must come to the realization that something has to change.

More importantly, you must change. A great place to start is to take an honest inventory of what you believe about the area that is not performing as expected. Make a list. Actually write out a list. Then carefully look at each item with an eye to fixing a problem.

Perhaps you feel like you are doing “everything right” & just can’t lose weight. Are you eating a low glycemic breakfast? Are you eating about every 3 hours? Are you getting protein & veggies with those meals? Are you eating more veggies than protein? (Think half a plate of veggies) Are you drinking at least 64 oz of water a day? Keeping a journal will be very helpful for you to see what is actually happening during your day. I talk with people every day that believe they’re eating healthy & then when we go through these above questions. It becomes very clear where they can improve to get the results they’re looking for. That’s a great thing!

Let’s say one item on your list is; “I believe I’m prospecting plenty of people”. Write down how many people you’re actually prospecting in a week. How many did you approach? How many did you invite? How many did you present to? How many follow ups did you do? If the numbers aren’t high, then you have found why you aren’t reaching your goals. You now have an area (or areas) that can be improved. Look at each item on the list and give it the scrutiny that it deserves. Be honest with yourself. Enlist the help of trusted mentors, family and friends. Be careful to pick people who will take this seriously and will give you thoughtful & useful feedback.

Remember that most of the time you are stuck it’s because you’re operating on false assumptions. Some of us are “stuck” in our glory days. Anyone who has let their identity get too wrapped up with who or what they once were, could feel that the best days are behind them. These thoughts can cloud your enthusiasm and cast a shadow on what you do today. So make a list, again with the lists lol, write down what you gained from your time in the Glory Days and how it helps you today. Remember that it is okay to fondly reminisce about the past, but you’re no longer living there.

Another solution is to ask for help. Yes, it is okay to ask for help! It’s actually very important. Seek out mentors, hire a coach, read a book…there are limitless resources, make use of them. We are always reading self-improvement books. I just finished The Big Leap: Conquer Your Hidden Fear & Take Life to The Next Level & John is reading The Key To Everything-Unlocking the Secret to Why Some People Succeed & Others Don’t. We use our mentors & are currently working with a coach to help us to get to the next level in our life & business.

Remember that you haven’t been getting all you want from life. Now Go get it!!
